Planet of the ants!
Here are a few photo's that appear to have been made up using photoshop or similar, they're not! All these were just converted to black and white and had their contrast altered. I thought some of our younger members would enjoy trying for themselves to re create their own little worlds and planets using just their cameras in macro mode and a little imagination.
All I needed for this selection of shots was, half an orange left face up on the ground for a couple of days in a sunny position and in moved the ants, simple!

The results look like something from another planet.

Deep sea diving? Ants in the shadows appear to be under water.

Riding on the crest of a wave! The orange takes on the look of surf in this one.

A little upside down surfing!

Feeding time on planet of the Ants!
Go on, get out there and see if you can create your own little worlds! It's great fun.

great idea to get them interested. and so simple to do with great results.
wonder if half an onion will do the same? there ALWAYS seems to be half an onion in our fridge!
nice macro topic and would no doubt fit the comp theme of Industry as no one works harder than a colony of ants.

Interesting Dave, just goes to show, with a little imagination what you can up with. It is nice macro work. I'm not so sure Dave would have any joy with half an onion though!!! Ha ha
Nice one Dave.
Thanks for your birthday greetings by the way, very nice of you.

Good idea, Dave, and not just for the youngsters. I might give this a go myself.
Best wishes, Mike

What fab photos Dave. I remember a while back studying some ants under a magnifying glass, wondering how I could photo something so tiny. Now I know, I'm going to have a go!
