Silverstone Air Show

I was at Silverstone at the weekend watching the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), as part of the day’s entertainment programme an air show was put on between races.
It started with the Red Devils Parachute Team, a team of eight jumping from about 9,000 feet. 40 second free fall before deploying their parachutes

A perfect landing

During the lunchtime break it was the turn of the Red Arrows, 9 Hawk T1’s putting on a precision display over Silverstone.

Perfect formation flying

Towards the end of the day we were treated to a fly past by a Lancaster Bomber, PA474 is one of only two Lancaster's remaining in airworthy condition out of the 7377 that were built.

Bomb doors open, fortunately nothing being dropped on the race track.

PA474 also took part in 2 films, 'Operation Crossbow' and 'The Guns of Navarone'.

Hope you enjoyed having a look

An excellent blog Brian, well presented with great clear pictures well captured, and an excellent narrative, nice shots of all the planes, but in particular of the Lancaster with the unmistakeable sound of those Merlins
